Carmen and Theresa blogging, made me think...maybe I need to blog, and hold myself accountable. Thanks ladies!
Today I'm trying, and so far succeeding in eating right, did my normal lunch tabata workout. So Day 1! I have 8 weeks...or maybe 7.5 until we go to CA...really don't want to be the same weight as of right now. The good news is, I think Mario may actually be coming around to the idea of eating right. Which will be a huge help...now I just need to stop snacking...lately I noticed when Mario puts Elijah to bed and inevitably falls asleep himself, I end up snacking a lot. I need some self awareness and clarity. I don't even realize how bad it is until the damage has already been done. I may need to figure something out to keep me busy...idle hands and all that.
Now that Elijah is hopefully over this last little illness and has a lull in teething, I'm hoping to get back to my early morning workouts as well...I have noticed that my tush is now a thutt...not cute. Plus the fact I am just squishier. I guess I don't even care if the scale doesn't move, as long as my tummy doesn't as much. Tired of losing and gaining the same 5 pounds, really want to be able to wear my cute shorts this summer, and feel fabulous in them.
Mario came to me about a 5k in July...I am so excited he's interested, maybe this is what we need to help each other out, and get some quality productive time together in. We have a jogging stroller...and it has yet to ever be used for that purpose.
Goals:
-Eat clean the rest of the day
-Make a menu for next week...and try to stick with it.
-Go to the gym in the AM
Thankful:
-No more bake sales downstairs
-Didn't get a cookie at Subway (and I really wanted one!)
-For motivating friends at work

'Tis the Season
So a friend of mine called while wrapping gifts to ask if I had already made my bows and nametags for my gifts. After telling her I didn't bother doing that this year, and people should be glad they get a gift and it's wrapped at all this year, because I'm not interested in buying for anyone but Elijah this year. Afterwards she told me...thank God! Turns out when you're a mom there's less time to be "perfect", less time to get every minute detail just right. And you know what...I am better for it! In year's past if I didn't make some ornament for the presents, or didn't make each individual bow with the perfect ribbon to perfectly match the cutest wrapping paper I would get frustrated.
This year I am enjoying the season even more. I didn't even think it was remotely possible, because Mario and I revel in it! I'm living more in the moment, I'm attending more festive events, and I'm having fun just going with the flow...who knew that was even an option?!
Watching Elijah try to figure out a man in a red suit and big white beard is fun...he didn't cry just looked at him like he was a weirdo. Taking him to go see lights and reindeer has been amazing. We put up the tree and it took weeks for him to even be remotely interested in it (probably thought, it was only a matter of time before his crazy parents brought a tree inside and put lights on it.) Now he loves looking at the lights and ornaments on it and the lights Mario put up outside on our balcony. He's starting to notice the little details that make this time of year special and fun. I made cookies and he had his first one...without icing, but he was pretty happy about it. As I made cookies I thought about all the years we'll have where he helps us decorate them, and helps mix the batter. I LOVE BEING A MOM!!!! I always knew I would, but actually having the opportunity has been so much of a blessing. So many years went by where I thought I'd never have the chance, and here it is, and I just wish I could imprint every second on my brain. I never want to forget any of it, the sweet moments when I walk in the door and his face lights up and he runs to me pushing his ottoman, then holds on tight, nestles his face in the crook of my neck, then grabs my face to give me kisses...and even the funny moments like when he realized his finger fits perfectly in his nostril at a restaurant and proceeds to leave it there while bopping to the music in the background looking mighty proud of himself avoiding Daddy trying to get him to stop and switching fingers.
We have been so blessed to have hand me downs from family and friends that we've never really bought much in the way of toys or clothes for him. So for Christmas it's been pretty exciting picking out his gifts...and he'll probably enjoy the paper and ribbon best. That's okay we just opened the packaging of gifts from last year, these can wait too. :)
I love having my family together, this year has been so special. I hope Elijah enjoys every Christmas.
Okay...the love fest is done...trying to get an action plan for the trip to NM so that I don't completely lose everything I've worked for this year. I don't know how tamales and posole fit into my diet...actually they don't...but I assume I'll have to do some grocery shopping while I'm in NM to try and curb the reign of food. Why does food need to be so hard to deal with? I love working out, I love going to the gym...food...why do you have to taste so good?!
Starting to get anxious about going home. Really hope everyone can act right this year. Fingers crossed. I read a blog of a mom that stopped the holiday travel because she finally realized it was more stress, not relaxing, and the only reason she did it was because it was expected, and not necessarily warranted...and not wanted by her own family. I wish I could do that...I don't see that ever happening though. So we make the trek south, to hopefully have more happy memories than annoyances.
Goals:
-Lose 3 more pounds before leaving tomorrow
-Make action plan
-load up on thermo snacks to take to NM
-don't forget my vat of supplements
-Try to stay sane amongst the insane.
Grateful:
-My boys...I am crazy in love with both of them
-Christmas spirit
-Knowing Christmas is great even if not every detail is perfect. (letting go of perfection)
-Our health and moving in the right direction

Going going gone
Today I weighed in and lost another 1.5 pounds! I am so excited...maybe one day I'll fit into my clothes...they button, but are not cute.
I am completely obsessed with planning Elijah's 1st birthday! During lunch I've been doing one task at a time to get his invitations together...in true fashion I have decided to make everything difficult and make the invitations, hoping they will be done by the end of this week, the envelopes come in tomorrow. I also spend a lot of time...and subsequently money on things for it. If I don't have an intervention soon I may spend more on this birthday than I personally did on my wedding...I'm kidding...but seriously it's getting out of hand. The good thing is I spread it out over a long period of time. We got the cake ordered, the place secured for the date. I have the next three weeks planned on where and what I'm ordering from each place online. Apparently I now have to find a Cat in the Hat costume according to Mods...um, but no one to wear it. Oh well. I am so excited, then I think...he won't even remember any of it.
Hoping I'll be thinner than ever in my married life for our family pictures in October...need to stay focused and keep going. Ugh...I also need to find a Halloween costume for Peanut and figure out what treat to make his teachers. Any suggestions? I really need to win the lottery so that I can spend more time on planning fun things...instead of staying up late and using my lunch hour. As you can tell...focus is not in my vocabulary...this BLOG is so ADD! This is my challenge. I imagine now with the holidays it isn't going to get any better...oooh squirrel!
Goals:
-stay on track
-finish invitations
-wrap up some projects
Thankful:
-Mods cleaning house on his day off
-Besties coming into town the next two weekends
-End of the work week!

Today I sit here 10 lbs. from my pre-prego weight! So excited! While eating has been good, (sans the parts Mods tries to sabbotage...and I let him) I still need to find time to get to the gym. Does the guilt go away? Trying to get on it this week. No promises, but good intentions.
I have maintained taking my little guy swimming every week...you'd think having to be seen in public with a swimsuit would be enough inspiration. He loves it so much.
Our niece is coming up this week to go to school at Regis! She's a willing babysitter, so that will be nice...I'm guessing we'll also see Mario's brother more often too now, which will be good. (Mario always wants his family to come up, but they rarely if ever do.)
Goals:
-workout at least 3 times this week (lame I know)
-stay on plan all week
-spend time outside with the little guy
Thankful:
-Gummy smiles
-co-workers that are genuine

Yes I dare!
So, tomorrow we're going to this place with Mario's sister-in-law and our niece for dinner...seriously some great NM food (Jack-n-Grill)...so they have some items on the menu that are diet friendly...sadly none of those include a sopapilla. (Shocker...I know). So I'll dare to be a good girl and forego the sopapilla. Agh...having anxeity just thinking about it...already imagining myself calling people jerks and slapping a waiter when they bring them out and people dare to eat one in front of me...serenity now! This will be, by far the biggest feat of my willpower if I can pull this off! Wish me luck!
So as I've told you, I lost the 15 pounds 9 months to the day! Woohoo! However, how does one gain 4 pounds in one day I'd like to know? That's what my scale is saying. And, to be honest, it's ticking me off! I'm chalking it up to water weight or some other weight gaining phenom that I will dedicate my life...or the next minute, trying to unravel that mystery.
Getting back on track ladies. Losing weight without as many workouts I used to do means not being as lean. Vowing to bring clothes to workout during lunch when I don't have a meeting in the afternoon. Hopefully bringing the clothes will translate to getting to the rec center etc etc. Regardless, just happy to be losing at all!
Speaking of happy, I thought I'd just note, that I am just silly happy these days...don't want to wake the gods and have them curse me, so I'll leave it at that. (No hidden agenda or news either.)
I love nothing more than planning a party, and my little guy's 1st birthday is coming up...oh...it is so on! We've already begun the wheels turning and gathering fun stuff. It's bittersweet to think it's gone by so fast, so even though I'm planning it, I'm remembering to savor every minute with him as it happens, and live in the now.
Thankful:
-my life
-swimming with Elijah
-cooler evenings
Goals:
-Not go nuts eating this weekend
-Not go nuts in general this weekend
-Move

I have managed to keep my diet intact...for the most part. I didn't do anything detrimental...at least I don't think so. My Mom had made some chocolate chip cookies and brought them...because her baby girl LOVES them. I did eat a few, luckily she made them small.
Mario comes home tonight, and Mom and Dad leave tonight. It's always nice having them here. It's less stressful without all the madness going home brings. Planning on getting family pictures done for Eli's 1st birthday and with the grandparents. Trying to figure out whose pictures I like best, and what we can afford. Hopefully by then I'll be thinner than I was before being pregnant! That would be awesome!
Beginning my consistent workouts tomorrow after work! Woohoo! Not sure if I've lost any more weight, because I haven't gotten on the scale. To be honest I'm afraid of damages from last Saturday. Hopefully by now I've mitigated that train wreck. (two tacos, diet soda, and chicken strips...ack!) Need to stop being afraid to run in the heat, because I said I'd do warrior dash with people. :|
Thankful:
-Awesome parents
-Perfect 9 month checkup
-getting compliments on weight loss
Goals:
-Legs, chest & shoulders over the weekend
-Not cheat this weekend (don't give in!)
-Enjoy family time!

Well, I got to see my girl Mel last Thursday. Great company and found a new place to go eat. Rarely get to try new places since Mario is always hesitant. I love that lady! Can hardly wait for September girls weekend...even if I'm the slacker meat in an awesome sandwich!
This past weekend was okay. Ate like poo on Saturday, but reined it back in Sunday. Hoping to be at my post baby weight (sadly, before gaining 15) by the end of this week. That may mean I'll be able to fit into some of my work pants...that admittedly were way too big for me before, but they had been tailored and I didn't have money to replace. Anyhoo...good things.
Parents are in town to help while Mods is in Boston. So grateful for them! Mom brought Sonic for dinner on their way in. Afterwards I told her I was on a diet (can't throw away the week), and so she said she'd get her favorite pizza by our house for lunch, and eat right with me. Apparently my dad has no choice in the matter. I think he's just happy to eat whatever, and just glad not to have to pick. I think I'll make some pesto chicken and pasta with tomatoes and brocolli for dinner tonight. Hopefully they'll like that.
Made a chicken salad for sandwiches with a little greek yogurt, cherries, and celery with thyme (wanted dill, but apparently I don't have dill at home. Didn't have grapes or apple at the time I made it, but those are other good fruits to put in later versions.) It was yummy, and I think may be a new staple to make for lunches.
Other than that, I may not get many days at the gym this week with company, but plan on taking some walks at the newly opened park outside my window during lunches. May even get the nerve to run or something. Hopefully it stays moderate weather-wise.
Thankful:
-girl time
-Mom and Dad
-Not holiding grudges
Goals:
-Eat right rest of the week
-Enjoy parents' visit
-Get in some activity
